Reverse sear steak

I must confess that I am not a meat eater. But, my husband enjoys a good steak, so I learned how to make one at home for special occasions. The reverse sear technique allows for a beautifully cooked steak that you can pair up with any vegetables.

I am particular about buying good quality organic grass-fed beef. Beef is a great source of protein, iron, heart healthy Omega 3s and a variety of B vitamins.

Ingredient List:

Serves: 1

  • Sirloin steak, 8 oz, organic , grass-fed

  • Salt, cracked pepper

  • 2 tablespoons of butter

  • 3-4 cloves of garlic, smashed

  • A few sprigs of fresh thyme

  • Avocado oil

Let’s Cook!

  1. Prep the steak: Season with salt and pepper, set aside for 45 min

  2. Cook the steak: Preheat oven to 275 F, cook steak for about 30 min till the internal temp is 120-125 F (for a medium rare steak)

  3. Sear the steak: . Add avocado oil and 1 tablespoon butter to a grill pan, drop in garlic and thyme. Add the cooked steaks and sear for approx 2 min per side. Baste the steaks with the remaining butter while it sears.

  4. Let it rest for 10 min and serve on a bed of mashed potato with veggies.

Make sure your grill pan is hot when searing! Be careful that it does not burn.

Happy Cooking!
